A small part of the land already has that existing designation, which permits services such as gas stations, hotels and restaurants that travelers need near highways. But how many drivers suddenly say to themselves, "I need to get off the road quick so I can put on water skis and be towed by a cable at 20 miles per hour across a man-made lake"? Such a water park could be a wholesome attraction. The site's owners, from Palm Beach Gardens, have been relentlessly selling it as such, along with the big RV park and indoor/outdoor skate park. But "Expressway-Oriented Transient Commercial Service Centers" are not supposed to be tourist attractions. They're supposed to reduce traffic on nearby local roads.
